A Letter to Santa from Poppy and Jess – Dictated to Anne Greensmith @snowleopardess
Dear Santa,
My name is Poppy and I am the small one in the photo.
I am supposed to be a Jack Russell/Border Terrier cross, but my Mum says I am almost all Jack Russell. She says she cannot see the Border Terrier in me anywhere… My friend is a German Shepherd called Jess. We live together with our family in London. Jess is too shy to write to you so this letter is from both of us. I make more than enough noise for two anyway.
I would love some new squeaky toys for Christmas. I like to bite them and shake them, and I can imagine I have caught a mouse…or a rat…or a rabbit! Jess does not like me playing with squeaky toys though, and tells me off. I run and hide in my crate until one of my family comes and takes the toy away. They say I am driving them mad with the noise…spoilsports!
I would also like a coat because I hate the cold…nothing to make me look silly, mind…don’t want people laughing at me! Jess would like lots and lots of tennis balls…she absolutely adores them! She claims any she finds as her own.
She also needs some doggy ear-defenders, because she is very frightened of loud noises like thunder and fireworks. I keep telling her to bark at them like I do, and they will go away, but she won’t listen.
We would both like lots of chews and treats…and stuffing for our Kongs. We both love them but I especially like to steal Jess’s when she isn’t looking…I distract her and run back to find where she has left it. I am very clever you see… The youngest in my family will hang a stocking up for me on Christmas Eve…please don’t forget to fill it or he will be very upset…and so shall I!
Lots of love and licks,
Poppy and Jess xx

And this letter form the adorable youngster Sally, who has a lot going for her as you can see… as dictated to Terry Cunningham @wvterry
Dear Santa Paws,

My name is Sally and I’m an 8 month old yellow lab. I’m afraid that all I will get for Christmas is a lump of coal. My mommy says that’s what bad little girls get. While I’m a good girl, It’s much more fun to be bad.
I’d like an invisibility cloak like Harry Potter’s so I can sneak
up on the cat. He always seems to know right when I’m ready to jump.
Also a bark activated refrigerator door opener so I can eat all
the cheese I want and because Mommy says that beer is bad for dogs.
I’ll be very thirsty after all that cheese.
My big sister Siggie sleeps too much so I need a big squeaky toy to put under her bed. We need a doggie door to the pantry cause that’s where mommy keeps our treats Because I am a generous doggie I want to ask for something for others.
After getting spayed I’d like a citronella collar for my Vet, an electric fence for that neighbor lady’s yard so she will stop coming over to complain about my barking and a choke chain for my aunt Sue so that she doesn’t talk so much.
Most of all even though I am just a puppy please send an audio book on how to dominate my parents.
Love, Sally
P.S. Please tell Rudolph not to come until after deer season.
and finally…
